October 13 2016
This photo shows a small part of our stash gathered Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Labor Day Week 2016.
We found the usual browns and whites plus several blues and teals, 4 pieces of red, 4 yellows, 2 lavender, 1 orange, 2 peachy ones that look like depression glass plus some nice worn pieces of sea pottery.
The beach itself is very sandy, no big rocks but if you walk by the water you will at least need water shoes because the rocks start getting bigger.
The beach is dog friendly.
We found most of our pieces by sight but because the dog was tired we spent some time sitting and sifting through the sand and enjoying the sound of the waves.
We found about 400 pieces and at least half were well rounded and frosted but maybe 50 pieces were jewelry grade.
I might mention that the rocks are beautiful also. I collect heart shaped rocks and found a few.
Simmons Island is a safe, family friendly beach with free parking.
It is located in Kenosha, WI. We drove up to Grants Park Beach in South Milwaukee but didn't find much. The weather was beautiful and sunny.
