Perfect Purple - June 2016 Sea Glass Photo Contest

Perfect Purple
WINNER June 2016
This extraordinary sea glass nugget is the darkest of purples, a perfectly frosted jelly bean, no chips!
I think it is Vitrine, which was made near Lake Erie. Vitrine was used as insulator glass about 75 years ago! I have found many small insulator pieces, but never anything of this calibre.
Found on a beach in Victoria, B.C., this glass is so dark no light passes through it.
The purple can be seen on close inspection in the bright sunlight.
Challenging to photograph, I snapped this shot in my studio, and with my
Apple iPad.
