Sea Glass - Onslow Beach, Camp Lejeune NC


I have walked the beaches of NC for over 20 years.

The best glass finds are on Onslow beach. I have found small pottery pieces, and have over a gallon of various colors of beach glass.

My best finds, which are rare, are two pieces of red glass and several cobalt pieces.

My most exciting find was beach glass while in Kuwait in the Middle East, staying on the Indian Ocean.

I've been privelaged to visit this beach with my daughter, who is a Marine stationed at this location.

We've only searched the shoreline along the area near the water towers where the base beach rentals are located.

Glass finds have been less than desirable, but we have found some sea pottery pieces.

However, beautiful sea pebbles which could be jewelry quality are in large abundance, and it is a shark tooth hunter's paradise. I picked up 140 shark teeth last Sunday in under 2 hours.

To access this beach, as stated earlier, you will need military access.

 Which Area of Onslow Beach...

To answer someone else' question from earlier...you must have a DOD sticker inorder to access the beach aboard Camp Lejeune.

There are several different sections of this beach...which area is the best for hunting?

My husband and I found 5 pieces of sea glass there today.

We found 3 large pieces of blue-green and 2 white pieces.

Me and my family are planning a trip to North Carolina and I would very much like to go and visit Onslow Beach, though I heard you have to make a reservation for the beach ten weeks in advance, and we're leaving in less than 10 days.

Is the beach at all open to public??

I love to walk on Onslow Beach.

I have alot of wonderful memories there.And have sea glass that I keep in my memory jar.

Also shells etc.from my trip there.

Can't wait to go back next year.

Does anyone know where to find sea glass in Corpus Christi, Texas. Going for the weekend and would love to find some.
