 Black amethyst glass?

I have black sea glass - when you put a flashlight on the the edges it shows a deep dark purple.

I am believing this to be black amethyst glass.

The pieces are so black the light doesn't show through it but if you can get it on the edge you can see it's definitely purple.

 Black glass from UK?

We purchased some glass from the UK that looked black, ( bottle tops ) but held up to the light ha a purple tinge on the edges.......

On our honeymoon in BC at a beach in Sydney at a beach beside an old glass factory I found the same piece that is identical to the UK stuff we purchased with just the outer edge showing purple!

Can anyone help us identify this glass....... PLEASE?
