♪...Can't get you off my mind...♪ Yes, Lin reminds me that our last Newsletter was posted over a month ago. We were at home in Los Organos, northern Peru. Now, we're in Sequim, Washington, USA. We have been so busy (I'm sure you know how that goes) and finally I'm getting down to buziness. In this newsletter, we have: August Sea Glass Photo Contest The month of August is a good month for finding sea glass since many of you are on vacation and walking the beaches in various parts of the world. But a lot of you took a few moments to vote on the 13 photos submitted for the August contest. With 32 votes, the winner was "Oh What a Beautiful Morning," by by Raymunda Fox (Seaside, California). Congratulations Raymunda! The runner-up with 13 votes was "Danbo - I love Cape Cod," by Kerry Starzyk (San Diego, California). Those two photos received the most votes... but all of the 13 photos were special. Photos came from all over - beaches such as Okinawa, Japan; the Big Island of Hawaii; England; and both East and West Coasts of the USA and Canada. If you haven't seen them, take a moment to review all of them: The Sea Giveth Multis and Bubbles Summer Seaglass Stack Not where it should be, but as if it were... Shades of Pale Sea Gems Glass on the Beach Hunting Light Godzilla Glass and Shell BIG Island Sea Glass Okinawa Sea Glass Note- the photos on the contest page are ordered according to latest comments, not by month. To see the photos for a certain month easily, use the Search box in the right column on Odyssey's home page or other page. For example, entering "August 2011" will bring up all the month's photos. Also, you can go back and add a vote for a photo of any month as "sea glass photo of the year" to be compiled when? ...the end of the year :-) NOW - it's time to get your photos in for September 2011 digital photo contest. Don't wait too long - the earlier you get your sea glass photo in, the more chance of picking up votes! Reminder - The photo contest is for unmounted sea glass; that is, not made into jewelry or crafts (your arts and crafts sea glass photos can be uploaded at Sea Glass Art and Crafting. A big thank you to all who participated this month! The photos were all beautiful. A Trip to North Beach, Port Townsend, WA Lin and I are currently living in Sequim, Washington, where we will be for a number of months before returning to our main stomping grounds in Northern Peru. Now that we are here on the Olympic Peninsula, we are close to several good sea glass beaches. So, last week we took a drive to Port Townsend's North Beach. Here are some photos of what we found. North Beach Sea Glass from August 2011 | Due to her health problems, Lin stayed near the parking area, but I trucked on down the beach a ways to see what I could turn up. We ended up with a beautiful collection of small pieces of sea glass. North Beach Sea Glass Detail from August 2011 | North Beach is great fun with a lot of glass; unfortunately, bigger pieces are scarce. There is a chance of making some real finds, though. For example, a friend of ours, Robin, was hunting beach glass there awhile back. Her hubby, Willie (not a big enthusiast, just a really nice guy), strolled down to the beach, picked up a tiny yellow perfume bottle stopper, and said, "Now, can we go home?" Sick, eh?
