Sea Glass Report:

Good - 50+ pieces found in 45 minutes.  5-10 were jewelry grade.

Mostly green, brown and clear/white.  Also found light blue.

Half are frosted and rounded.

Found an hour before low tide.

Added information from Odyssey Sea Glass:

As you can see when zooming out in the map below, East Point Lighthouse Beach is well within the Delaware Bay. Cape May shelters this beach from waves from the Atlantic, with some waves coming in from the south southwest.

Because of not being on the open ocean, beaches lying in bays get less wave action and are likely to take a long, long time to tumble and frost beach glass. That doesn't mean you can't find decent beach glass on sheltered beaches, it just makes the probabilities much slimmer. Expect to find a lot of craft grade sea glass rather than jewelry grade.

On the whole, New Jersey beaches do provide some good sea glass hunting. You can read more about New Jersey beaches here:

Purple piece of glass was found in December 2010, on Fortescue Beach in New Jersey. It was cold and the top half of the beach was snow covered. This.

Based on the recommendations on this site, my hubby and I decided to leave Atlantic City NJ - where we're visiting and usually find lots of beach glass.

This marble was found in November 2010 on Fortescue Beach in New Jersey. It was a cold breezy day, very low tide. This beach is my favorite beach to.

When evaluating a report, use good judgment.

Note:

  • No photos were included with this report.
  • This beach is in a bay - less wave action, less tumbling.
We thank everyone for each beach report and we know you readers do too!

.As always, we remind folks that sea glass beach reports are not confirmed by Lin or me at Odyssey Sea Glass unless otherwise stated. Reports that do not include photos of the sea glass found are less reliable. So use your own judgement in deciding whether to travel to a particular beach or not.

Many pieces found
by: Anonymous

I always find many pieces of nicely tumbled glass, in amber green and clears.

Dogs are allowed and I do not suggest going at high tide, many snapper turtles and horseshoe crabs.

Again, note that no photos showing nicely-tumbled sea glass found have been submitted.
